To anybody that's not Mormon and reading this, I apologize. But not totally.
In the premortal existence, we were shown a plan. Because we had already progressed to terminal point in that existence, our only option was a test. To ascend to Godhood, it was required that we take on a physical form, one with desires, emotions, and greeds we had to prove we could manage before continuing on our path. If we showed that our spirits were strong enough to not only manage our bodies, but magnify our callings and become as Christ like as possible, the Atonement would carry us up into our Celestial State. Yes, it involved risk, but risk was the only way we could learn. Yes, many would not be able to make it, but it would be their own individual fault for not making it. Although all man was created equal, no intelligence ever was.
But there was another plan. Why, after all Christ had done for us, would he let so many suffer at the hands of those on Earth? Why we he watch us grovel in pain as the troubles in our mortal form pushed us, possibly beyond our capacity to handle? How could he deny so many from the gates of heaven? Lucifer, the Father of all lies, beleived he had devised a better plan, one that would work for everybody, one that would open the door for many, if only they would bow to him, and not to Christ.
Of course, there was a war. The type of war, we don't really know. One third of God's children, led by the Devil, fell away and were cast out by Heavenly Father. But the terribly ironic thing is, Satan's plan simply could not have worked. There had to be an individual bar. Godhood, by nature could only take a deserving, clean spirit. A plan garunteeing equality could not be upheld by the mathematics and morals of the universe.
I told you this for a reason. Heavenly Father's plan shows a plan of liberty, and of total agency. We CHOOSE whether we want to follow him. We CHOOSE to control our bodies. If you falter or stumble, you cannot blame the heavens, but only you. The risk is eternal salvation, and the gamble is eternel torment or slavery. But so many went with it anyway, because the only way anyone could ever grow is through trial.
Satan's plan offered no freedom, and no liberty. In his plan, there was total security. Everybody made. Nobody was undeserving, there was no poor, and he proudly bore the banner of supposed "Equality". All that was required was for you to bow to the Devil.
In capitalism, true capitalism, you are offered total liberty. You find a job, work hard, or invent something. You have everything to lose, but everything to gain. In capitalism, you have the opportunity to become rich if you do something great enough. Choose to not get an education, slack off your job, and you fall. Yes, good hardworking people slip through the cracks because capitalism is a man made solution, and it only works if everyone is hardworking and diligent. Everyone gets what and to what degree they deserve.
In socialism, or communism to a greater degree, you do not have the chance to become rich. If you slack everything off, don't get an education, it's okay. You still get food and whatever else you need to live and feed your family. There is no downside to being a horrible person. Everyone is treated equally, except the government, who gets bowed to.
I am person that would never sacrifice my liberty in the long run for security temporarily. I am a capitalist. I am a conservative. I believe in small government. I beleive The Constitution is amazing and inspired by God. I beleive in leaving things to the individual, not to the "good" of the collective. I beleive that God and Christ will be the only authorities I answer to in the end, not to Obama or the government. I beleive that the scale of society should be placed closer to anarchy than to tyranny, not completely, so that we still answer to laws, but the closer to tyranny, the closer we are to slavery. I beleive that in a man made society, Justice serves a higher role than Mercy, because only the Lord can forgive sins. I we are responsible for our own actions, and total equality cannot- and should not- exist, because although all man was created equal, no intelligence or spirit is the same. I leave this with you to think and to pray about.
Thank you for that brief moment of epiphany. We'll now get back to our show.
That's a creative, yet true comparison. Just one thing that I disagree with: I believe that tyranny is better than anarchy. Why? Because in anarchy, there are no laws to govern people. No leaders, no guidance. The world falls apart. At least, with tyrrany, the world is being held together.
ReplyDeleteBut tyranny can keep the population without knowledge. Look at how brain washed the citizens of North Korea are. The ones that aren't worshipping Kim Jung Il are escaping in the thousands, rather than stay and be slaves. They risk everything for their freedom- everything. I'd rather be on my own, but knowing something, than be a captive in the dark. But you're right, in a sense. Anarchy means no laws, no laws means no rightouesness, which is why the plan of salvation includes laws. See here:
ReplyDeleteIn tyrrany, you may have no knowledge. This is really the only thing that stops free agency- lack of knowledge.
In anarchy, there are no laws, so therefore agency is meaningless. Without law, you cannot do anything "bad". I do NOT beleive in total anarchy, but the level of governing, to be just, must be closer to that than to tyrranny, because I happen to beleive in small government.
The Idea of Communism, I believe is right. In reality, the original idea is what we call The Law of Consecration. But Men, particularly the Bolsheviks, took the idea and twisted it. And created this basis: All people are created equal, but some are more equal than others. The thing is, the Law of consecration, this idea of a utopia, is what the Second Coming will be, but we aren't ready for it yet, and that is why Communism fails every time.
ReplyDeleteBut that is a good idea. I believe in Monarchy. God is King. But God is merciful, and he said so himself, If any of you will be greatest, let him serve (or something like that). So Christ serves us and gives us incomprehensible gifts. That is what a King should be, even if he is an imperfect man. Rulers belong to their people, not the other way around.
Be very, very careful not to confuse God's Kingdom with man's kingdom. The law of consecration works with God and not mankind because God Is, and has always Been, and absolute ruler and the perfect ruler. Because mankind is imperfect, we are unable to take upon us the mantle of being in charge of somebody else. Yes, there were good kings of old, but for every good there was a bad one, and a bad king can do more harm to a nation than healing a good one can do. That's why God set up America with a Constitution that is a document that limits the power of government instead of giving it power, and why our leaders our specifically prohibited from having a title of nobility. In our system, the leaders DO belong to the people. (Except, of course, when Obama says "We will pass this health care bill whether America wants it or not!")
ReplyDeleteGoing off of what Brandon said, man is imperfect and it is therefore impossible for us to create something perfect. Because we have many flaws, whatever we create will have many flaws. Even the constitution, though inspired, is not perfect. Man has attempted to create the perfect forms of government before: Communism and Monarchy (as Micah mentioned) Only a perfect being, a god, could create a government like that and have it work.
ReplyDeleteAs of now, the most perfect form of government we can have is the Constitutional Democratic Republic. But, sadly, politicians are finding the minor flaws in the constitution and twisting it. Eventually all flaws become visible.
I've noticed how people are taking advantage of very minor typos and things that weren't even mistakes in the Constitution. The law that said anyone born here is a citizen was originally enacted to esure the sons of free slaves would be free, but is now used as a scapegoat for illiegal immigrant's children. The worst forms of abuse are from the "General welfare" clause being taken wrong (which i may or may not write more about later) and some claim that the position of commas in the second ammendment denies us the right to bear arms.
ReplyDeleteI think that, while illegal anything is wrong, a lot of them immigrate here because they know that they have chance to prosper. And they want their children to become citizens. Is that so wrong? The wrong thing is the way they go about it.
ReplyDeleteWe have our agency. And no one should limit that. But like you said, man in imperfect. We need Legal and illegal because some people's Choices would limit the agency of others. And laws don't really limit you at all. You can do whatever you want, really. Law just makes a punishment for wrongful acts. Like God's Law. It does not limit our agency, only allows for just punishments and rewards based on any and every action we take. Of course man's law cannot be even CLOSELY compared to God's law, but the inspired constitution did come from God and it allows for as much freedom as possible.
